Metabolism Boosting Foods! Rev up your Engine!

Ok, we’re into the New Year now! Hope we are still incorporating the better habits that we said we would! As we all know what we eat has a major effect on overall health, and today were talking about how what we eat can affect our metabolism! Now, I won’t get all into the Kreb cycle or anything on you, but we often hear that people have fast or slow metabolisms, and this can be true. Some people do just naturally burn more than others, and some less than others. But the general population is mostly the same. 

Here are some clever additions you can make to what you are eating to increase your metabolism with food (please note that these will not be a panacea to weight loss, and the effects you may see would be miniscule):

·         Cayenne/Chili Pepper: This tasty spice can rev up the metabolism

·         Coffee: This drink (best served black) and give you a caffeine and metabolism boost

·         Eggs: Beneficial BCAA’s are your benefactor

·         Green Tea: The compound EGCG is clinically proven to help fat -burning, however, you’d have to drink A LOT ( like only drink this, and a lot of it) of tea to reach the amount needed. Try matcha powder to get the most bang for your buck.

·         Iron: Deficiencies in this mineral (lean meats, spinach, broccoli, liver, shellfish, seafoods) has been shown to slow metabolism

·         WATER: Nothing works right without this!

Adding foods like the ones above can help increase the number of calories you are burning, but only marginally! Sprinkling hot sauce on your pizza will not make it significantly better to eat, so remember to try to keep it healthy (Most the time)!
